Friday Humor

Maxine for President

This is Maxine. Read what she has to say below her picture.

Everyone concentrates on the problems we are having in this country lately: illegal immigration, hurricane recovery, alligators attacking people in Florida .
Not me, I concentrate on solutions for the problems. It is a win-win situation.

+ Dig a moat the length of the Mexican border.
+ Send the dirt to New Orleans to raise the level of the levies.
+ Put the Florida alligators in the moat along the Mexican border.

Are there any other problems you would like me to solve today? Yes!
Please read on....LOL

1. Cows
2. The Constitution
3. The Ten Commandments

Cows
Is it just me, or does anyone else find it amazing that during the mad cow epidemic our government could track a single cow, born in Canada almost three years ago, right to the stall where she slept in the state of Washington? And, they tracked her calves to their stalls. But they are unable to locate 11 million illegal aliens wandering around our country. Maybe we should give each of them a cow

The Constitution
They keep talking about drafting a Constitution for Iraq .... Why don't we just give them ours? It was written by a lot of really smart guys, it has worked for over 200 years, and we're not using it anymore.

The 10 Commandments
The real reason that we cannot have the Ten Commandments posted in a courthouse is this: You cannot post 'Thou Shalt Not Steal,' 'Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery,' and 'Thou Shall Not Lie' in a building full of lawyers, judges and politicians...It creates a hostile work environment.

California Special Election May 19

It is a very unfortunate situation that California and other states are in. May 19, Special election is the Legislatures first attempt at putting Cali back on sure footing. Sorry to say that I thing that this is on a First effort. Like most of Measure 1A it is more about raising taxes and playing a "shell game" with current and supposed revenue. There is not much talks of Cuts, like the Cuts our family is making.
We live in California Congressional District 4 and our Congressman is Tom McClintock, we appreciate him on many fronts. Click on McClintock on the Propositions to see his take. I so far am in agreement with him on all but 1F. At this link there were currently 2 Comments before I made mine. Here is what I said in response to the Prop 1F

I am in agreement with most positions, except 1F. I am not going to vote against a good principle out of fear on a representative going out on the line to increasing taxes on the constituents for his/her own raise. Yes, maybe the voters are not paying attention (like now) and the representative will get away with raising taxes to balance the budget and assure their own pay raise, but this is where we need to make out votes count and hold them accountable when they do such a thing. If they show irresponsibility and this "ultimately end(s) up as a perverse incentive for legislators to pass higher and higher taxes in order to qualify for higher and higher salaries." as Tom states then they need to be voted out of office. If the people will not hold the leaders accountable, we get what we deserve.

You do not need to "weighing in" at that site, but I would appreciate any comments here to help me decide. If you have any thoughts that you can comment here or e-mail, I would appreciate it.

Exclusive Interview with Mike Huckabee

Mike Huckabee was the guest of honor Wednesday night, at a dinner at the Visalia Convention Center.

Thursday is the National Day of Prayer. Huckabee is a Baptist minister and the keynote speaker at the mayor's prayer breakfast in Visalia.

In 2008, the former Governor of Arkansas made a run for the White House and almost won the GOP bid. When asked about another run for office, Huckabee said "It's hard to say, I'm not trying to be evasive I just don't know."

When it comes to political issues in the valley, Huckabee does not hold back. "What is that fish we are trying to protect - the Delta Smelt? Why is that more important than a 8-year-old kid that needs food."

As a political commentator, Huckabee says he is happy with life. He has a television show, daily radio commentaries and a new book titled "Do the Right Thing."

Mike Pence Denounces Hate Crimes Bill

WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Congressman Mike Pence gave the following speech on the floor of the U.S. House during debate on H.R. 1913, the Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act of 2009:

Original can be found a Mike Pence Site

Protect The Constitution

On April 29, 2009, with a vote of 249-175, the House passed the Hate Crimes bill. It will now move on to the Senate. It now moves to the Senate, and if passed there, President Obama may sign it into Law as promised.

I believe that this legislation is an opposition to the Constitution, namely the 1st and 14th Amendments.

If you would like to make your voice heard to your Congress members, whether it is for or against the legislation, click on the link below to find your Senators.

Make you voice heard to your Senators

The “Point of View” site, is highlighting the attack that it would be on the Christian Pastor and community, and I believe that the leaders of the other religions that have beliefs that differ from a new protected class of people, would also be considered for punishment under this law. But it while I believe the Christian and the beliefs may suffer it is about the attack on the Constitution that drives me to voice an opinion against this legislation. I know that being persecuted for ones beliefs is common and even promised in the Bible that it will happen, but I really hope the citizens of the United states at this moment can rise up and protect the Constriction.
There is a generic message in opposition that you can edit as you like. The following is what I said to our Senators Barbara Boxer & Dianne Feinstein.

Dear Senators Boxer & Feinstein,
I have been fortunate to have received communications from both of you in the past in regards to issues that affect the people of our state and the United States. I appreciate your responses and your efforts as a state representative in the Senate. As one of your constituents, I urge you to oppose the Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act of 2009 or any other “hate crime” legislation. The passage of this bill and the signing into law by the President would violate the 14th Amendment by denying equal protection under the law for all citizens by creating a special class of individuals. It would also put into disregard the 1st Amendment. This is a bill in opposition to the Constitution and I ask that you voice opposition to it as a representative of my family and myself.

Way to go Tom McClintock - Keep it up

Tom McClintock (CA-4) on the House Floor.

Accepting Our Money Back
House Chamber, Washington D.C. April 21, 2009. Mr. Speaker: Many Americans have been shocked in recent days to learn that banks seeking to repay TARP money have been told the treasury will not allow them to do so. Taxpayers were promised that this money was only to be used to buy up toxic assets and that it would be repaid to the treasury as soon as humanly possible.
